[englisch 'stɛfnsn], Stephan Guđmundsson, eigentlich Stefán Guđmundur Guđmundsson ['guȓmundssɔn], isländisch-kanadischer Schriftsteller, * Kirkjuhóll (Nordisland) 3. 10. 1853, ✝ Markerville (Provinz Alberta) 10. 8. 1927; Stephansson, der zu den bedeutendsten isländischen Lyrikern seiner Zeit zählt, wanderte 1873 nach Nordamerika aus, arbeitete zunächst u. a. als Farm- und Eisenbahnarbeiter; ab 1889 lebte er mit seiner Familie auf einer kleinen Farm in der kanadischen Provinz Alberta. In seinen Gedichten erinnert er an den heroischen Geist der alten isländischen Sagas und der Edda; beschrieb in großartigen Landschaftsschilderungen das westliche Kanada.
 
Werke: Lyrik: Uti á viȓavangi (1894); Á ferȓ og flugi (1900); Andvökur, 6 Bände (1909-38); Vigslóȓi (1920).
